Symptoms	Period away from school
Fever 38°Celsius or higher	Exclude until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever suppressing medications.
Diarrhoea & Gastro- intestinal Infections	Exclude for 48 hours from last episode of diarrhoea and until individual is well enough to participate in school activities. Clearance certificate from GP.
Vomiting	Exclude for 48 hours from last episode of vomiting and until individual is well enough to participate in school activities.
Coughing/ Sore Throat	Exclude until fully recovered (symptom free) and well enough to participate in school activities. Clearance certificate from GP.
Shortness of breath	Exclude until recovered and individual is well enough to participate in school activities. Clearance certificate from GP
Extreme Fatigue	Exclude until recovered and individual is well enough to participate in school activities. Clearance certificate from GP.
Chickenpox	Exclude 5 days after the onset of the rash until all vesicles have crusted over.
German Measles	Exclude 7 days from onset of rash.
Hand, Foot and Mouth	Exclude until all blisters have dried.
Impetigo	Exclude until lesions are crusted and healed, or 48 hours after commencing antibiotic treatment.
Measles	Exclude 4 days from onset of rash.
Streptococcal Infections	Exclude until 48 hours after commencing appropriate treatment. Clearance certificate from GP.
Scabies	Exclude until after first treatment.
Coronavirus	Exclude 7+ days and kept in quarantine. Clearance certificate from GP.
Viral Respiratory Infections e.g. Influenza; H1N1	Exclude 7+ days until recovered and individual is well enough to participate in school activities.
Tuberculosis	Exclude 7+ days until treatment hass begun AND medical certificate of recovery is received.
Whooping Cough (Pertussis)	5 days from commencing antibiotic treatment, or 21 days from onset of illness if no antibiotic treatment.
Conjunctivitis	Exclude until discharge from eyes has ceased. Clinic clearance required.
Diphtheria	Exclusion is essential until a medical certificate of recovery is received.
Glandular Fever	Exclude until individual is well enough to participate in school activities.
Head lice	Exclude until after first treatment. Clinic clearance required.
Hepatitis A	Exclude until seven days after onset of jaundice or illness. GP clearance required.
Meningococcal meningitis	Exclude until treatment has been administered and a medical certificate of recovery is received.
Meningitis due to other bacteria	Exclude until recovered and individual is well enough to participate in school activities . A medical certificate of recovery is received.
Meningitis viral	Exclude until individual is well enough to participate in school activities. A medical certificate of recovery is required.
Mumps	Exclude 5 days after onset of swelling.
